Understanding GRV Issues
Frequent GRV Opening Issues
Microsoft Office Groove is Not Installed
When trying to open your GRV file, you get the error "Can't Open GRV File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft Office Groove for %%os%% installed on your computer. The OS won't know what to do with your GRV file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: Another GRV-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Microsoft Office Groove is Out-of-Date
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Office Groove File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version Microsoft Office Groove (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is predominately due to having a Office Groove File file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft Office Groove than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your GRV file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Regardless, most of the GRV file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Microsoft Office Groove installed.
Other GRV File Issues
Even with the correct version of Microsoft Office Groove installed, you can still experience difficulties opening GRVs. Other GRV opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Additional factors include:
- Windows Registry GRV file paths that are incorrect
- The GRV file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Microsoft Office Groove or another GRV application experienced a flawed installation
- The GRV itself is corrupted
- The GRV is infected with a virus
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your GRV file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Office Groove File format
