Troubleshooting Problems Opening QBO Files
Issues Opening QBO Files
FreshBooks Disappeared
When trying to open your QBO file, you get the error "Can't Open QBO File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have FreshBooks for %%os%% installed on your computer. Your operating system cannot associate your QBO with FreshBooks, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you don't have FreshBooks installed, and you know of another program to open your QBO file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Obsolete Version of FreshBooks
In other instances, your QuickBooks Online Bank Statement File file version may not be supported by your version of FreshBooks. If you do not have the proper version FreshBooks (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your QuickBooks Online Bank Statement File file was created by a different (newer) version of FreshBooks than what's installed.
Tip: Investigate your QBO file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening QBO files are due to having the wrong version of FreshBooks installed.
