Issues Opening DNG Files
MacPhun ColorStrokes is Not Installed
When you double-click your DNG file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because MacPhun ColorStrokes isn't installed on your PC. You won't be able to double-click to open your DNG because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens DNG files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
MacPhun ColorStrokes Requires Update
It is possible that your version of MacPhun ColorStrokes isn't able to open your Digital Negative Image File file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version MacPhun ColorStrokes (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Investigate your DNG file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Regardless, most of the DNG file opening problems relate to not having the right version of MacPhun ColorStrokes installed.
Additional DNG Opening Issues
Even with the correct version of MacPhun ColorStrokes installed, you can still experience difficulties opening DNGs. If you are continuing to have errors with loading DNG files, other external issues might be to blame. Issues that aren't software-related:
- DNG file type Registry entries are wrong
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry DNG description
- MacPhun ColorStrokes or another DNG application experienced a flawed installation
- Your DNG can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Malware-tainted DNG file can't be opened
- Drivers associated with DNG software need to be updated
- Windows cannot load your Digital Negative Image File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
