Sources of KBX Problems
Troubles Opening KBX Files
GNU Privacy Guard is Not Installed
When you double-click your KBX file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Customarily, this means that GNU Privacy Guard is not installed on %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your KBX file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
GNU Privacy Guard Requires Update
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of GNU Privacy Guard installed that's incompatible with your GNU Privacy Guard Keybox File type. You will need to download a newer version of GNU Privacy Guard if you don't have the right version. Your GNU Privacy Guard Keybox File file was probably created by a newer release of GNU Privacy Guard than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of KBX file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Regardless, most of the KBX file opening problems relate to not having the right version of GNU Privacy Guard installed.
