H64 Troubleshooting
Typical H64 Opening Challenges
VLC Media Player is Not Installed
When trying to open your H64 file, you get the error "Can't Open H64 File Type". Customarily, this means that VLC Media Player is not installed on %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: Another H64-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Obsolete Version of VLC Media Player
It is possible that your version of VLC Media Player isn't able to open your Audioless H.264 Video File file due to incompatibility. Download the latest VLC Media Player version from the VideoLAN website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is predominately due to having a Audioless H.264 Video File file version that was created by a newer version of VLC Media Player than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the H64 file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening H64 files are due to having the incorrect version of VLC Media Player installed on your computer.
Other H64 File Issues
Even with the correct version of VLC Media Player installed, you can still experience difficulties opening H64s. Other H64 opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- H64 file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Unintentional removal of the description of the H64 file inside the Windows Registry
- Defective install of a H64 program, such as VLC Media Player
- Your H64 file is corrupted (issues with your Audioless H.264 Video File file itself)
- Your H64 is infected with malware
- H64-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Audioless H.264 Video File files
