XT Troubleshooting
Troubles Opening XT Files
Xdebug Disappeared
Double-clicking your XT file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open XT File". If so, it typically means that you don't have Xdebug installed for %%os%%. The typical path of opening your XT with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you don't have Xdebug installed, and you know of another program to open your XT file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Xdebug is Out-of-Date
Sometimes your installed version of Xdebug won't support your Xdebug Trace File file. You will need to download a newer version of Xdebug if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your Xdebug Trace File file was created by a newer version of Xdebug than you have on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your XT, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Regardless, most of the XT file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Xdebug installed.
Other XT File Issues
Errors opening Xdebug Trace File files can still occur even with the latest Xdebug software installed on your computer. If you are continuing to have errors with loading XT files, other external issues might be to blame. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Windows Registry XT file paths that are incorrect
- Deletion of the XT file description from the Registry by mistake
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the XT format
- Your XT can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Your XT has adversely impacted by malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your XT file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Xdebug Trace File file successfully
