Understanding PMU Issues
Troubles Opening PMU Files
Pegasus Mail Disappeared
If you attempt to load your PMU file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open PMU Files". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Pegasus Mail isn't installed on your PC. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the PMU file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens PMU files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Incorrect Pegasus Mail Version
In other instances, your Pegasus Mail Keyboard Macro file version may not be supported by your version of Pegasus Mail. Installing the latest version of Pegasus Mail from David Harris is recommended. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Investigate your PMU file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Regardless, most of the PMU file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Pegasus Mail installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading PMU Files
Even with the correct version of Pegasus Mail installed, you can still experience difficulties opening PMUs. Other PMU opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Other contributing causes:
- File references in the Windows Registry for PMU are wrong
- The PMU file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the PMU format
- Something has caused file corruption of your PMU
- The PMU is infected with a virus
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your PMU file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Pegasus Mail Keyboard Macro files
