PZM File Complications
Troubles Opening PZM Files
GraphPad Prism Disappeared
You attempt to load your PZM file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The PZM File Extension". Customarily, this means that GraphPad Prism is not installed on %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your PZM because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: Another PZM-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
GraphPad Prism Requires Update
In other instances, your GraphPad Prism Project file version may not be supported by your version of GraphPad Prism. Download the latest GraphPad Prism version from the GraphPad Software website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This issue mainly occurs when your GraphPad Prism Project file was created by a newer version of GraphPad Prism than you have on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your PZM file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right GraphPad Prism version on your computer can cause problems opening PZM files.
Other PZM File Opening Causes
Although you might already have GraphPad Prism or another PZM-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening GraphPad Prism Project files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening PZM files. Additional factors include:
- PZM file type Registry entries are wrong
- Accidental deletion of the description of the PZM file in the Windows registry
- Corrupt install of GraphPad Prism or other PZM-related program
- PZM file corruption
- Past or present virus infection has affected your PZM
- Drivers associated with PZM software need to be updated
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your GraphPad Prism Project file
