SXS Troubleshooting
Troubles Opening SXS Files
SAS Disappeared
Double-clicking your SXS file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open SXS File". When this happens, it is commonly due to SAS missing in %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the SXS file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens SXS files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Obsolete Version of SAS
Your SAS Stat Studio Module Source Code File file is incompatible with SAS because you might have the wrong version installed. Installing the latest version of SAS from SAS Institute Inc. is recommended. This problem is predominately due to having a SAS Stat Studio Module Source Code File file version that was created by a newer version of SAS than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the SXS file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening SXS files are due to having the incorrect version of SAS installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading SXS Files
Assuming you have the right SAS version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening SXS files. If you are continuing to have errors with loading SXS files, other external issues might be to blame. These issues include:
- SXS file type Registry entries are wrong
- Corruption of the SXS file description inside the Registry
- Corrupt install of SAS or other SXS-related program
- Your SXS file is corrupted (issues with your SAS Stat Studio Module Source Code File file itself)
- Your SXS has adversely impacted by malware
- SXS-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the SAS Stat Studio Module Source Code File format
