Sources of CXD Problems
Frequent CXD Opening Issues
Missing SimplePCI
When trying to open your CXD file, you get the error "Can't Open CXD File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have SimplePCI for %%os%% installed on your computer. You won't be able to double-click to open your CXD because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: When another CXD application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Wrong Version of SimplePCI is Installed
Your SimplePCI Data Document file is incompatible with SimplePCI because you might have the wrong version installed. Visit the Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. website to download (or purchase) the latest version of SimplePCI. This problem is predominately due to having a SimplePCI Data Document file version that was created by a newer version of SimplePCI than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your CXD file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Conclusion: The majority of CXD file opening issues are due to not having the correct SimplePCI version installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading CXD Files
Even with the correct version of SimplePCI installed, you can still experience difficulties opening CXDs. If you are continuing to have errors with loading CXD files, other external issues might be to blame. These issues include:
- CXD file type Registry entries are wrong
- The CXD file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Corrupt install of SimplePCI or other CXD-related program
- Something has caused file corruption of your CXD
- Malware-tainted CXD file can't be opened
- Drivers associated with CXD software need to be updated
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open SimplePCI Data Document files
