NMI File Complications

Issues Opening NMI Files

SwordSearcher is Not Installed

When trying to open your NMI file, you get the error "Can't Open NMI File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have SwordSearcher for %%os%% installed on your computer. You won't be able to double-click to open your NMI because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.

Tip: When another NMI application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

Incorrect SwordSearcher Version

Your SwordSearcher Data file is incompatible with SwordSearcher because you might have the wrong version installed. Installing the latest version of SwordSearcher from StudyLamp Software is recommended. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.

Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of NMI file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).

Primarily, problems experienced when opening NMI files are due to having the incorrect version of SwordSearcher installed on your computer.

Associated Difficulties Loading NMI Files

Errors opening SwordSearcher Data files can still occur even with the latest SwordSearcher software installed on your computer. If you are continuing to have errors with loading NMI files, other external issues might be to blame. These issues include:

  • NMI file type Registry entries are wrong
  • Accidental deletion of the description of the NMI file in the Windows registry
  • SwordSearcher or another NMI application experienced a flawed installation
  • Your NMI can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
  • The NMI is infected with a virus
  • Hardware related to NMIs has device driver corruption
  • Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the SwordSearcher Data format
