Troubleshoot 29 Files
Troubles Opening 29 Files
Pro/ENGINEER Disappeared
You attempt to load your 29 file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The 29 File Extension". Customarily, this means that Pro/ENGINEER is not installed on %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your 29 because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: Another 29-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Incorrect Pro/ENGINEER Version
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Pro/ENGINEER installed that's incompatible with your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data type. You will need to download a newer version of Pro/ENGINEER if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file was created by a newer version of Pro/ENGINEER than you have on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your 29, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening 29 files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading 29 Files
Assuming you have the right Pro/ENGINEER version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening 29 files. If you are still having problems opening 29 files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Problems unrelated to software:
- File references in the Windows Registry for 29 are wrong
- Accidental deletion of the description of the 29 file in the Windows registry
- Partial installation of Pro/ENGINEER that did not fully complete
- The 29 itself is corrupted
- Malware-tainted 29 file can't be opened
- Hardware associated with 29 has outdated drivers
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file
