Understanding 30 Issues

Troubles Opening 30 Files

Pro/ENGINEER Isn't There

When trying to open your 30 file, you get the error "Can't Open 30 File Type". Customarily, this means that Pro/ENGINEER is not installed on %%os%%. The typical path of opening your 30 with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.

Tip: If you don't have Pro/ENGINEER installed, and you know of another program to open your 30 file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".

Obsolete Version of Pro/ENGINEER

In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file that is unsupported by your installed application version. You will need to download a newer version of Pro/ENGINEER if you don't have the right version. Your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file was probably created by a newer release of Pro/ENGINEER than what's currently installed your computer.

Tip: If you right-click on your 30 file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.

Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening 30 files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.

Other 30 File Opening Causes

In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Pro/ENGINEER will resolve your issue. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening 30 files. Issues that aren't software-related:

  • Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for 30
  • Corruption of the 30 file description inside the Registry
  • Partial installation of Pro/ENGINEER that did not fully complete
  • Your 30 can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
  • 30 file integrity has been compromised by malware
  • Hardware associated with 30 has outdated drivers
  • Windows has inadequate resources to open your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file
