Troubleshoot 33 Files
Frequent 33 Opening Issues
Pro/ENGINEER is Not Installed
Double-clicking your 33 file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open 33 File". Usually, this is because you do not have Pro/ENGINEER for %%os%% installed. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the 33 file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your 33, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Outdated Pro/ENGINEER
It is possible that your version of Pro/ENGINEER isn't able to open your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file due to incompatibility. If you've got the wrong version of Pro/ENGINEER installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: If you right-click on your 33 file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening 33 files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
