Troubleshooting Problems Opening 39 Files
Common Problems Opening 39 Files
Pro/ENGINEER Disappeared
You attempt to load your 39 file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The 39 File Extension". Usually, this is because you do not have Pro/ENGINEER for %%os%% installed. You won't be able to double-click to open your 39 because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens 39 files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Outdated Pro/ENGINEER
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Download the latest Pro/ENGINEER version from the PTC website to ensure you have the correct one installed. The primary cause of this problem is that your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file was created by a different (newer) version of Pro/ENGINEER than what's installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of 39 file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Regardless, most of the 39 file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Pro/ENGINEER installed.
Other 39 File Issues
Errors opening Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data files can still occur even with the latest Pro/ENGINEER software installed on your computer. If you are still having problems opening 39 files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Other contributing causes:
- Windows Registry 39 file paths that are incorrect
- The 39 file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the 39 format
- Your 39 file is corrupted (issues with your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file itself)
- Malware-tainted 39 file can't be opened
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your 39 file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file
