Understanding 63 Issues
Troubles Opening 63 Files
Pro/ENGINEER Removed
When you double-click your 63 file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Pro/ENGINEER for %%os%% installed on your computer. The OS won't know what to do with your 63 file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: Another 63-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Pro/ENGINEER Requires Update
It is possible that your version of Pro/ENGINEER isn't able to open your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version Pro/ENGINEER (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Most of the time your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file was created by a newer Pro/ENGINEER than what you have installed.
Tip: Investigate your 63 file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening 63 files are due to having the incorrect version of Pro/ENGINEER installed on your computer.
Additional 63 Opening Issues
Assuming you have the right Pro/ENGINEER version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening 63 files. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening 63s. Other contributing causes:
- 63 file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Accidental deletion of the description of the 63 file in the Windows registry
- Pro/ENGINEER or another 63 application experienced a flawed installation
- Your 63 file is corrupted (issues with your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file itself)
- Past or present virus infection has affected your 63
- 63-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file successfully
