Sources of 92 Problems
Common 92 Opening Problems
Pro/ENGINEER Removed
You attempt to load your 92 file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The 92 File Extension". If so, it typically means that you don't have Pro/ENGINEER installed for %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your 92 because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens 92 files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Incorrect Pro/ENGINEER Version
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Pro/ENGINEER installed that's incompatible with your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data type. If you do not have the proper version Pro/ENGINEER (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file was created by a different (newer) version of Pro/ENGINEER than what's installed.
Tip: Investigate your 92 file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Conclusion: The majority of 92 file opening issues are due to not having the correct Pro/ENGINEER version installed.
More Causes of Problems Opening 92s
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Pro/ENGINEER will resolve your issue. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening 92s. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Windows Registry 92 file paths that are incorrect
- Deletion of the 92 file description from the Registry by mistake
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the 92 format
- Your 92 file is corrupted (issues with your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file itself)
- Your 92 is infected with malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your 92 file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Windows cannot load your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
