93 Troubleshooting
Typical 93 Opening Challenges
Pro/ENGINEER is Not Installed
When trying to open your 93 file, you get the error "Can't Open 93 File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Pro/ENGINEER for %%os%% installed on your computer. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the 93 file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: Another 93-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Obsolete Version of Pro/ENGINEER
Your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file is incompatible with Pro/ENGINEER because you might have the wrong version installed. Visit the PTC website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Pro/ENGINEER. Your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file was probably created by a newer release of Pro/ENGINEER than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Right-clicking on your 93, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening 93 files are due to having the wrong version of Pro/ENGINEER installed.
Other 93 File Opening Causes
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Pro/ENGINEER will resolve your issue. If you're still experiencing problems opening 93 files, there could be other computer problems. These issues include:
- 93 file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Deletion of the 93 file description from the Registry by mistake
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the 93 format
- The 93 itself is corrupted
- Your 93 is infected with malware
- 93-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data files

That's Correct!
