Troubleshooting Problems Opening 94 Files
Frequent 94 Opening Issues
Pro/ENGINEER Isn't There
When you double-click your 94 file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Pro/ENGINEER installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the 94 file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your 94 file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Obsolete Version of Pro/ENGINEER
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Pro/ENGINEER installed that's incompatible with your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data type. Download the latest Pro/ENGINEER version from the PTC website to ensure you have the correct one installed. The primary cause of this problem is that your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file was created by a different (newer) version of Pro/ENGINEER than what's installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your 94 file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Conclusion: The majority of 94 file opening issues are due to not having the correct Pro/ENGINEER version installed.
Other 94 File Issues
Although you might already have Pro/ENGINEER or another 94-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data files. If you are continuing to have errors with loading 94 files, other external issues might be to blame. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for 94
- The 94 file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the 94 format
- Something has caused file corruption of your 94
- Your 94 is infected with malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your 94 file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file
