Understanding 99 Issues
Troubles Opening 99 Files
Pro/ENGINEER Disappeared
When trying to open your 99 file, you get the error "Can't Open 99 File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Pro/ENGINEER missing in %%os%%. The typical path of opening your 99 with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your 99 file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Obsolete Version of Pro/ENGINEER
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Pro/ENGINEER installed that's incompatible with your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data type. Download the latest Pro/ENGINEER version from the PTC website to ensure you have the correct one installed. Your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file was probably created by a newer release of Pro/ENGINEER than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Right-clicking on your 99, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening 99 files are due to having the incorrect version of Pro/ENGINEER installed on your computer.
Associated Difficulties Loading 99 Files
Errors opening Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data files can still occur even with the latest Pro/ENGINEER software installed on your computer. If you are still having problems opening 99 files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. These issues include:
- 99 file type Registry entries are wrong
- Deletion of the 99 file description from the Registry by mistake
- Pro/ENGINEER or another 99 application experienced a flawed installation
- Your 99 file is corrupted (issues with your Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data file itself)
- The 99 is infected with a virus
- Hardware associated with 99 has outdated drivers
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Creo Elements/Pro Versioned Data files
