Troubleshoot DRW Files
Issues Opening DRW Files
Corel Presentations X8 Not Present
When you double-click your DRW file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Corel Presentations X8 isn't installed on your PC. The OS won't know what to do with your DRW file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your DRW file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Wrong Version of Corel Presentations X8 is Installed
Sometimes your installed version of Corel Presentations X8 won't support your DESIGNER Drawing file. Visit the Corel website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Corel Presentations X8. The primary cause of this problem is that your DESIGNER Drawing file was created by a different (newer) version of Corel Presentations X8 than what's installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the DRW file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening DRW files are due to having the wrong version of Corel Presentations X8 installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading DRW Files
Even with the correct version of Corel Presentations X8 installed, you can still experience difficulties opening DRWs. If you are still having problems opening DRW files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- File references in the Windows Registry for DRW are wrong
- The DRW file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Corel Presentations X8 or another DRW application experienced a flawed installation
- The DRW itself is corrupted
- Past or present virus infection has affected your DRW
- Hardware related to DRWs has device driver corruption
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your DESIGNER Drawing file successfully
