Troubleshoot TBL Files
Troubles Opening TBL Files
StarCraft Not Present
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open TBL Files" when trying to open your TBL. Usually, this is because you do not have StarCraft for %%os%% installed. You won't be able to double-click to open your TBL because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: Another TBL-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Outdated StarCraft
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of StarCraft installed that's incompatible with your StarCraft Information Table type. Download the latest StarCraft version from the Blizzard Entertainment Inc. website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Investigate your TBL file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening TBL files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other Causes of TBL File Opening Problems
Although you might already have StarCraft or another TBL-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening StarCraft Information Table files. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening TBL files. Problems unrelated to software:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for TBL
- Deletion of the TBL file description from the Registry by mistake
- Defective install of a TBL program, such as StarCraft
- Something has caused file corruption of your TBL
- Past or present virus infection has affected your TBL
