CFU File Complications
Troubles Opening CFU Files
Client Firewall Not Present
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open CFU Files" when trying to open your CFU. If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Client Firewall for %%os%% installed on your computer. Your operating system cannot associate your CFU with Client Firewall, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you don't have Client Firewall installed, and you know of another program to open your CFU file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Obsolete Version of Client Firewall
Sometimes your installed version of Client Firewall won't support your Symantec Client Firewall Policy Data file. If you've got the wrong version of Client Firewall installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is predominately due to having a Symantec Client Firewall Policy Data file version that was created by a newer version of Client Firewall than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your CFU file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening CFU files are due to having the wrong version of Client Firewall installed.
Other Causes of CFU File Opening Problems
Although you might already have Client Firewall or another CFU-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Symantec Client Firewall Policy Data files.
