Common PFW Opening Problems

LiveAdvisor Not Present

When you double-click your PFW file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Usually, this is because you do not have LiveAdvisor for %%os%% installed. The OS won't know what to do with your PFW file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.

Tip: When another PFW application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.

Incorrect LiveAdvisor Version

Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of LiveAdvisor installed that's incompatible with your Symantec LiveAdvisor Data type. Visit the Symantec Corporation website to download (or purchase) the latest version of LiveAdvisor. This issue mainly occurs when your Symantec LiveAdvisor Data file was created by a newer version of LiveAdvisor than you have on your PC.

Tip: Investigate your PFW file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
