Sources of A3L Problems
Issues Opening A3L Files
Adobe Authorware Not Present
When trying to open your A3L file, you get the error "Can't Open A3L File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Adobe Authorware installed for %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your A3L with Adobe Authorware, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: Another A3L-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Adobe Authorware Requires Update
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Adobe Authorware installed that's incompatible with your Authorware 3 Library type. Installing the latest version of Adobe Authorware from Adobe Systems Incorporated is recommended. This issue mainly occurs when your Authorware 3 Library file was created by a newer version of Adobe Authorware than you have on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of A3L file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening A3L files are due to having the wrong version of Adobe Authorware installed.
