ADO Troubleshooting
Common ADO Opening Problems
Adobe Photoshop CC is Not Installed
Double-clicking your ADO file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open ADO File". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Adobe Photoshop CC isn't installed on your PC. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your ADO, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Obsolete Version of Adobe Photoshop CC
Sometimes your installed version of Adobe Photoshop CC won't support your Adobe Photoshop Duotone Options File file. You will need to download a newer version of Adobe Photoshop CC if you don't have the right version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your ADO file and clicking "Properties".
Primarily, problems experienced when opening ADO files are due to having the incorrect version of Adobe Photoshop CC installed on your computer.
Other Causes of ADO File Opening Problems
You can still experience errors opening ADO files even with the latest version of Adobe Photoshop CC installed on your PC. If you are continuing to have errors with loading ADO files, other external issues might be to blame. These issues include:
- ADO file type Registry entries are wrong
- Deletion of the ADO file description from the Registry by mistake
- Defective install of a ADO program, such as Adobe Photoshop CC
- Your ADO can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- The ADO is infected with a virus
- ADO-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Windows cannot load your Adobe Photoshop Duotone Options File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
