API File Complications

Frequent API Opening Issues

Missing Adobe Photoshop CC

When trying to open your API file, you get the error "Can't Open API File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Adobe Photoshop CC for %%os%% installed on your computer. You won't be able to double-click to open your API because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.

Tip: If you know of another program that can open your API file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.

Outdated Adobe Photoshop CC

In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Adobe Photoshop Inks File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version Adobe Photoshop CC (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This issue mainly occurs when your Adobe Photoshop Inks File file was created by a newer version of Adobe Photoshop CC than you have on your PC.

Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of API file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).

Primarily, problems experienced when opening API files are due to having the incorrect version of Adobe Photoshop CC installed on your computer.

Other API File Opening Causes

Errors opening Adobe Photoshop Inks File files can still occur even with the latest Adobe Photoshop CC software installed on your computer. If you are still having problems opening API files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Other contributing causes:

  • API file type Registry entries are wrong
  • Mistaken removal of the Windows registry API description
  • Adobe Photoshop CC or another API application experienced a flawed installation
  • API file corruption
  • Past or present virus infection has affected your API
  • API-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
  • Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Adobe Photoshop Inks File file successfully
