BLW Troubleshooting
Typical BLW Opening Challenges
Adobe Photoshop CC Disappeared
If you attempt to load your BLW file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open BLW Files". When this happens, it is commonly due to Adobe Photoshop CC missing in %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your BLW with Adobe Photoshop CC, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your BLW, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Adobe Photoshop CC Requires Update
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Adobe Photoshop Black And White Presets File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. You will need to download a newer version of Adobe Photoshop CC if you don't have the right version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Investigate your BLW file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening BLW files are due to having the wrong version of Adobe Photoshop CC installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading BLW Files
Errors opening Adobe Photoshop Black And White Presets File files can still occur even with the latest Adobe Photoshop CC software installed on your computer. Other BLW opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Windows Registry BLW file paths that are incorrect
- The BLW file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Corrupt install of Adobe Photoshop CC or other BLW-related program
- Your BLW file is corrupted (issues with your Adobe Photoshop Black And White Presets File file itself)
- Malware-tainted BLW file can't be opened
- Hardware related to BLWs has device driver corruption
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Adobe Photoshop Black And White Presets File file
