BUC File Complications
Frequent BUC Opening Issues
Adobe Photoshop Elements Removed
When you double-click your BUC file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Adobe Photoshop Elements isn't installed on your PC. The OS won't know what to do with your BUC file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you don't have Adobe Photoshop Elements installed, and you know of another program to open your BUC file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Adobe Photoshop Elements Requires Update
In other instances, your Adobe Photoshop Elements Backup File file version may not be supported by your version of Adobe Photoshop Elements. Download the latest Adobe Photoshop Elements version from the Adobe Systems Incorporated website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is predominately due to having a Adobe Photoshop Elements Backup File file version that was created by a newer version of Adobe Photoshop Elements than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your BUC, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening BUC files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
Other BUC File Opening Causes
