Understanding FH11 Issues
Frequent FH11 Opening Issues
Missing Adobe Illustrator CC
Double-clicking your FH11 file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open FH11 File". Customarily, this means that Adobe Illustrator CC is not installed on %%os%%. The typical path of opening your FH11 with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When another FH11 application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Adobe Illustrator CC Requires Update
Your FreeHand 11 Drawing File file is incompatible with Adobe Illustrator CC because you might have the wrong version installed. Visit the Adobe Systems Incorporated website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Adobe Illustrator CC. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the FH11 file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Regardless, most of the FH11 file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Adobe Illustrator CC installed.
Other Causes of FH11 File Opening Problems
You can still experience errors opening FH11 files even with the latest version of Adobe Illustrator CC installed on your PC. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening FH11s. Problems unrelated to software:
- File references in the Windows Registry for FH11 are wrong
- Unintentional removal of the description of the FH11 file inside the Windows Registry
- Partial installation of Adobe Illustrator CC that did not fully complete
- Your FH11 file is corrupted (issues with your FreeHand 11 Drawing File file itself)
- FH11 file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Device drivers for FH11-related hardware are out-of-date
- Windows cannot load your FreeHand 11 Drawing File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
