Troubleshooting Problems Opening FHD Files
Issues Opening FHD Files
Missing Adobe FreeHand
If you attempt to load your FHD file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open FHD Files". If so, it typically means that you don't have Adobe FreeHand installed for %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your FHD because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: Another FHD-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Obsolete Version of Adobe FreeHand
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Adobe FreeHand installed that's incompatible with your FreeHand Drawing File type. If you do not have the proper version Adobe FreeHand (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Most of the time your FreeHand Drawing File file was created by a newer Adobe FreeHand than what you have installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your FHD file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening FHD files are due to having the incorrect version of Adobe FreeHand installed on your computer.
Additional FHD Opening Issues
You can still experience errors opening FHD files even with the latest version of Adobe FreeHand installed on your PC. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening FHDs. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for FHD
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry FHD description
- Defective install of a FHD program, such as Adobe FreeHand
- Something has caused file corruption of your FHD
- Your FHD is infected with malware
- Drivers associated with FHD software need to be updated
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the FreeHand Drawing File format
