FRL File Complications
Common FRL Opening Problems
Missing JetForm FormFlow
When you double-click your FRL file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because JetForm FormFlow isn't installed on your PC. You won't be able to double-click to open your FRL because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you don't have JetForm FormFlow installed, and you know of another program to open your FRL file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Incorrect JetForm FormFlow Version
It is possible that your version of JetForm FormFlow isn't able to open your Electronic Form Loader File file due to incompatibility. Visit the Adobe Systems Incorporated website to download (or purchase) the latest version of JetForm FormFlow. Most of the time your Electronic Form Loader File file was created by a newer JetForm FormFlow than what you have installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of FRL file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Conclusion: The majority of FRL file opening issues are due to not having the correct JetForm FormFlow version installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading FRL Files
Errors opening Electronic Form Loader File files can still occur even with the latest JetForm FormFlow software installed on your computer. Other FRL opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. These issues include:
- FRL file type Registry entries are wrong
- Accidental deletion of the description of the FRL file in the Windows registry
- Invalid installation of a FRL-associated program (eg. JetForm FormFlow)
- File corruption affecting your FRL file
- Past or present virus infection has affected your FRL
- FRL-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Windows cannot load your Electronic Form Loader File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
