FT8 File Complications
Common FT8 Opening Problems
Adobe Illustrator CC is Not Installed
You attempt to load your FT8 file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The FT8 File Extension". When this happens, it is commonly due to Adobe Illustrator CC missing in %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your FT8 with Adobe Illustrator CC, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: Another FT8-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Adobe Illustrator CC is Out-of-Date
Your FreeHand 8 Template file is incompatible with Adobe Illustrator CC because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of Adobe Illustrator CC if you don't have the right version. Your FreeHand 8 Template file was probably created by a newer release of Adobe Illustrator CC than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Investigate your FT8 file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening FT8 files are due to having the incorrect version of Adobe Illustrator CC installed on your computer.
More Causes of Problems Opening FT8s
Assuming you have the right Adobe Illustrator CC version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening FT8 files. If you are still having problems opening FT8 files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- Windows Registry FT8 file paths that are incorrect
- The FT8 file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Defective install of a FT8 program, such as Adobe Illustrator CC
- The FT8 itself is corrupted
- FT8 file integrity has been compromised by malware
- FT8-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your FreeHand 8 Template file successfully
