Understanding FT9 Issues
Issues Opening FT9 Files
Adobe Flash Professional CC Not Present
When trying to open your FT9 file, you get the error "Can't Open FT9 File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Adobe Flash Professional CC installed for %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your FT9, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Obsolete Version of Adobe Flash Professional CC
In other instances, your FreeHand 9 Drawing Template file version may not be supported by your version of Adobe Flash Professional CC. Download the latest Adobe Flash Professional CC version from the Adobe Systems Incorporated website to ensure you have the correct one installed. The primary cause of this problem is that your FreeHand 9 Drawing Template file was created by a different (newer) version of Adobe Flash Professional CC than what's installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your FT9 file and clicking "Properties".
Primarily, problems experienced when opening FT9 files are due to having the incorrect version of Adobe Flash Professional CC installed on your computer.
Additional FT9 Opening Issues
Even with the correct version of Adobe Flash Professional CC installed, you can still experience difficulties opening FT9s. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening FT9 files. Additional factors include:
- File references in the Windows Registry for FT9 are wrong
- Deletion of the FT9 file description from the Registry by mistake
- Corrupt install of Adobe Flash Professional CC or other FT9-related program
- FT9 file corruption
- FT9 file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Drivers associated with FT9 software need to be updated
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the FreeHand 9 Drawing Template format
