Sources of GLO Problems
Troubles Opening GLO Files
Missing Adobe RoboHelp
When trying to open your GLO file, you get the error "Can't Open GLO File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Adobe RoboHelp for %%os%% installed on your computer. The typical path of opening your GLO with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your GLO, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Outdated Adobe RoboHelp
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Adobe RoboHelp installed that's incompatible with your RoboHelp Glossary File type. Visit the Adobe Systems Incorporated website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Adobe RoboHelp. The primary cause of this problem is that your RoboHelp Glossary File file was created by a different (newer) version of Adobe RoboHelp than what's installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your GLO file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Conclusion: The majority of GLO file opening issues are due to not having the correct Adobe RoboHelp version installed.
Other GLO File Issues
Errors opening RoboHelp Glossary File files can still occur even with the latest Adobe RoboHelp software installed on your computer. Other GLO opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Issues that aren't software-related:
- GLO file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- The GLO file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the GLO format
- Your GLO file is corrupted (issues with your RoboHelp Glossary File file itself)
- GLO file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Drivers associated with GLO software need to be updated
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open RoboHelp Glossary File files
