Sources of IDLK Problems
Typical IDLK Opening Challenges
Missing Adobe InDesign
You attempt to load your IDLK file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The IDLK File Extension". Customarily, this means that Adobe InDesign is not installed on %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your IDLK file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Wrong Version of Adobe InDesign is Installed
Your Adobe InDesign Lock File file is incompatible with Adobe InDesign because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of Adobe InDesign if you don't have the right version. Most of the time your Adobe InDesign Lock File file was created by a newer Adobe InDesign than what you have installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of IDLK file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Primarily, problems experienced when opening IDLK files are due to having the incorrect version of Adobe InDesign installed on your computer.
