ISA Troubleshooting
Troubles Opening ISA Files
Adobe Photoshop Removed
When you double-click your ISA file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Adobe Photoshop missing in %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your ISA file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Adobe Photoshop Requires Update
In other instances, your Adobe Photoshop ImageReady Action Data file version may not be supported by your version of Adobe Photoshop. You will need to download a newer version of Adobe Photoshop if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your Adobe Photoshop ImageReady Action Data file was created by a newer version of Adobe Photoshop than you have on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your ISA file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right Adobe Photoshop version on your computer can cause problems opening ISA files.
Other ISA File Issues
Assuming you have the right Adobe Photoshop version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening ISA files. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening ISAs. Additional factors include:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for ISA
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry ISA description
- Partial installation of Adobe Photoshop that did not fully complete
- The ISA itself is corrupted
- ISA file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Device drivers for ISA-related hardware are out-of-date
- Windows cannot load your Adobe Photoshop ImageReady Action Data file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
