Understanding LBI Issues

Frequent LBI Opening Issues

Adobe Dreamweaver Not Present

When trying to open your LBI file, you get the error "Can't Open LBI File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Adobe Dreamweaver installed for %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your LBI file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.

Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your LBI, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").

Outdated Adobe Dreamweaver

In other instances, your Dreamweaver Library Item file version may not be supported by your version of Adobe Dreamweaver. Visit the Adobe Systems Incorporated website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Adobe Dreamweaver. Your Dreamweaver Library Item file was probably created by a newer release of Adobe Dreamweaver than what's currently installed your computer.

Tip: Investigate your LBI file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.

Summary: Not having the right Adobe Dreamweaver version on your computer can cause problems opening LBI files.

Other LBI File Opening Causes

In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Adobe Dreamweaver will resolve your issue. If you are continuing to have errors with loading LBI files, other external issues might be to blame. Additional factors include:

• LBI file type Registry entries are wrong
• Unintentional removal of the description of the LBI file inside the Windows Registry
• Defective install of a LBI program, such as Adobe Dreamweaver
• Your LBI file is corrupted (issues with your Dreamweaver Library Item file itself)
• The LBI is infected with a virus
• Device drivers of the hardware associated with your LBI file are corrupt or out-of-date
• Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Dreamweaver Library Item file successfully
