Troubleshooting Problems Opening MF2 Files
Frequent MF2 Opening Issues
Adobe Authorware is Not Installed
When you double-click your MF2 file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Customarily, this means that Adobe Authorware is not installed on %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your MF2 with Adobe Authorware, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your MF2, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Wrong Version of Adobe Authorware is Installed
Your Authorware Mediator5 Multimedia File file is incompatible with Adobe Authorware because you might have the wrong version installed. If you do not have the proper version Adobe Authorware (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: Investigate your MF2 file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening MF2 files are due to having the wrong version of Adobe Authorware installed.
Other MF2 File Issues
Even with the correct version of Adobe Authorware installed, you can still experience difficulties opening MF2s. If you are still having problems opening MF2 files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Additional factors include:
