MNU Troubleshooting

Common Problems Opening MNU Files

Microsoft Notepad is Not Installed

When you double-click your MNU file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Microsoft Notepad for %%os%% installed on your computer. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the MNU file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.

Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your MNU, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").

Incorrect Microsoft Notepad Version

In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a AutoCAD Interface Layout File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. You will need to download a newer version of Microsoft Notepad if you don't have the right version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.

Tip: Investigate your MNU file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
