Sources of MPJ Problems
Troubles Opening MPJ Files
Minitab Disappeared
Double-clicking your MPJ file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open MPJ File". When this happens, it is commonly due to Minitab missing in %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your MPJ with Minitab, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your MPJ, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Obsolete Version of Minitab
Your Minitab Project File file is incompatible with Minitab because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of Minitab if you don't have the right version. The primary cause of this problem is that your Minitab Project File file was created by a different (newer) version of Minitab than what's installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your MPJ file and clicking "Properties".
Primarily, problems experienced when opening MPJ files are due to having the incorrect version of Minitab installed on your computer.
Other Causes of MPJ File Opening Problems
Errors opening Minitab Project File files can still occur even with the latest Minitab software installed on your computer. If you are continuing to have errors with loading MPJ files, other external issues might be to blame. These issues include:
- MPJ file type Registry entries are wrong
- Accidental deletion of the description of the MPJ file in the Windows registry
- Minitab or another MPJ application experienced a flawed installation
- Your MPJ file is corrupted (issues with your Minitab Project File file itself)
- Your MPJ is infected with malware
- Drivers associated with MPJ software need to be updated
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Minitab Project File file
