MUSE Troubleshooting
Frequent MUSE Opening Issues
Adobe Muse CC Not Present
When trying to open your MUSE file, you get the error "Can't Open MUSE File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Adobe Muse CC isn't installed on your PC. Your operating system cannot associate your MUSE with Adobe Muse CC, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your MUSE, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Incorrect Adobe Muse CC Version
It is possible that your version of Adobe Muse CC isn't able to open your Adobe Muse Website Project file due to incompatibility. Installing the latest version of Adobe Muse CC from Adobe Systems Incorporated is recommended. This problem is predominately due to having a Adobe Muse Website Project file version that was created by a newer version of Adobe Muse CC than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your MUSE file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening MUSE files are due to having the incorrect version of Adobe Muse CC installed on your computer.
Additional MUSE Opening Issues
Errors opening Adobe Muse Website Project files can still occur even with the latest Adobe Muse CC software installed on your computer. If you are continuing to have errors with loading MUSE files, other external issues might be to blame. These issues include:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for MUSE
- Deletion of the MUSE file description from the Registry by mistake
- Defective install of a MUSE program, such as Adobe Muse CC
- Your MUSE file is corrupted (issues with your Adobe Muse Website Project file itself)
- Past or present virus infection has affected your MUSE
- Drivers associated with MUSE software need to be updated
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Adobe Muse Website Project file
