NCR Troubleshooting
Common NCR Opening Problems
Adobe Photoshop CC Isn't There
If you attempt to load your NCR file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open NCR Files". If so, it typically means that you don't have Adobe Photoshop CC installed for %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your NCR file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When another NCR application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Obsolete Version of Adobe Photoshop CC
It is possible that your version of Adobe Photoshop CC isn't able to open your NCR Image file due to incompatibility. Visit the Adobe Systems Incorporated website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Adobe Photoshop CC. The primary cause of this problem is that your NCR Image file was created by a different (newer) version of Adobe Photoshop CC than what's installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of NCR file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Regardless, most of the NCR file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Adobe Photoshop CC installed.
Other NCR File Opening Causes
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Adobe Photoshop CC will resolve your issue. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening NCRs. Issues that aren't software-related:
- NCR file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Corruption of the NCR file description inside the Registry
- Defective install of a NCR program, such as Adobe Photoshop CC
- Your NCR can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- The NCR is infected with a virus
- Hardware related to NCRs has device driver corruption
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the NCR Image format
Quiz: Which of these is considered a vector image file?
That's Correct!
The unique thing about vector files such as AI and EPS is that graphic details (eg. sizes and shapes of objects) and text remains editable. This allows you can save and re-open them in Illustrator and edit text or other elements within the graphic.
