SAM File Complications
Frequent SAM Opening Issues
Missing Notepad++
If you attempt to load your SAM file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open SAM Files". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Notepad++ for %%os%% installed on your computer. The typical path of opening your SAM with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens SAM files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Outdated Notepad++
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a LMHOSTS Sample File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you do not have the proper version Notepad++ (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. This issue mainly occurs when your LMHOSTS Sample File file was created by a newer version of Notepad++ than you have on your PC.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your SAM file and clicking "Properties".
Primarily, problems experienced when opening SAM files are due to having the incorrect version of Notepad++ installed on your computer.
