Troubleshooting Problems Opening PRPROJ Files
Troubles Opening PRPROJ Files
Missing Adobe Premiere Pro CC
You attempt to load your PRPROJ file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The PRPROJ File Extension". Usually, this is because you do not have Adobe Premiere Pro CC for %%os%% installed. The OS won't know what to do with your PRPROJ file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: Another PRPROJ-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Wrong Version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC is Installed
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Premiere Pro Project file that is unsupported by your installed application version. If you've got the wrong version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is predominately due to having a Premiere Pro Project file version that was created by a newer version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your PRPROJ file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening PRPROJ files are due to having the wrong version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC installed.
Other PRPROJ File Opening Causes
Assuming you have the right Adobe Premiere Pro CC version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening PRPROJ files. If you're still experiencing problems opening PRPROJ files, there could be other computer problems. Other contributing causes:
- PRPROJ file type Registry entries are wrong
- Deletion of the PRPROJ file description from the Registry by mistake
- Corrupt install of Adobe Premiere Pro CC or other PRPROJ-related program
- The PRPROJ itself is corrupted
