PSET File Complications
Common PSET Opening Problems
Adobe InDesign is Not Installed
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open PSET Files" when trying to open your PSET. If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Adobe InDesign for %%os%% installed on your computer. The OS won't know what to do with your PSET file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: Another PSET-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Obsolete Version of Adobe InDesign
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of Adobe InDesign installed that's incompatible with your Adobe InDesign Plug-in Set File type. Visit the Adobe Systems Incorporated website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Adobe InDesign. This issue mainly occurs when your Adobe InDesign Plug-in Set File file was created by a newer version of Adobe InDesign than you have on your PC.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the PSET file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening PSET files are due to having the wrong version of Adobe InDesign installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading PSET Files
Although you might already have Adobe InDesign or another PSET-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Adobe InDesign Plug-in Set File files. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening PSETs. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- PSET file type Registry entries are wrong
- Accidental deletion of the description of the PSET file in the Windows registry
- Corrupt install of Adobe InDesign or other PSET-related program
- Your PSET file is corrupted (issues with your Adobe InDesign Plug-in Set File file itself)
- Your PSET has adversely impacted by malware
- Drivers associated with PSET software need to be updated
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Adobe InDesign Plug-in Set File format
