Typical RAW Opening Challenges
MacPhun ColorStrokes is Not Installed
When you double-click your RAW file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have MacPhun ColorStrokes installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the RAW file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your RAW file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Outdated MacPhun ColorStrokes
Your Raw Image Data File file is incompatible with MacPhun ColorStrokes because you might have the wrong version installed. If you've got the wrong version of MacPhun ColorStrokes installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is predominately due to having a Raw Image Data File file version that was created by a newer version of MacPhun ColorStrokes than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your RAW file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening RAW files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
More Causes of Problems Opening RAWs
You can still experience errors opening RAW files even with the latest version of MacPhun ColorStrokes installed on your PC. Other RAW opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Problems unrelated to software:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for RAW
- Deletion of the RAW file description from the Registry by mistake
- Defective install of a RAW program, such as MacPhun ColorStrokes
- Your RAW can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- RAW file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your RAW file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Raw Image Data File file successfully
