Troubleshoot RFR Files
Typical RFR Opening Challenges
Missing Adobe Photoshop
You attempt to load your RFR file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The RFR File Extension". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Adobe Photoshop isn't installed on your PC. The typical path of opening your RFR with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When another RFR application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Adobe Photoshop Requires Update
It is possible that your version of Adobe Photoshop isn't able to open your Adobe Photoshop Frame Filter file due to incompatibility. Installing the latest version of Adobe Photoshop from Adobe Systems Incorporated is recommended. Your Adobe Photoshop Frame Filter file was probably created by a newer release of Adobe Photoshop than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Right-clicking on your RFR, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening RFR files are due to having the wrong version of Adobe Photoshop installed.
Other RFR File Issues
Assuming you have the right Adobe Photoshop version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening RFR files. If you are still having problems opening RFR files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Windows Registry RFR file paths that are incorrect
- Accidental deletion of the description of the RFR file in the Windows registry
- Invalid installation of a RFR-associated program (eg. Adobe Photoshop)
- RFR file corruption
- Your RFR is infected with malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your RFR file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the Adobe Photoshop Frame Filter file
