Typical RTA Opening Challenges

Missing Adobe RoboHelp

You attempt to load your RTA file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The RTA File Extension". Usually, this is because you do not have Adobe RoboHelp for %%os%% installed. Your operating system cannot associate your RTA with Adobe RoboHelp, so double-clicking the file won't work.

Tip: If you know of another program that can open your RTA file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.

Wrong Version of Adobe RoboHelp is Installed

Your RoboHelp RTA Data File file is incompatible with Adobe RoboHelp because you might have the wrong version installed. If you've got the wrong version of Adobe RoboHelp installed, you'll need to install the correct version. The primary cause of this problem is that your RoboHelp RTA Data File file was created by a different (newer) version of Adobe RoboHelp than what's installed.

Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the RTA file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
