Sources of MC1 Problems
Common Problems Opening MC1 Files
MedCalc Isn't There
You attempt to load your MC1 file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The MC1 File Extension". If so, it typically means that you don't have MedCalc installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the MC1 file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your MC1 file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
MedCalc is Out-of-Date
It is possible that your version of MedCalc isn't able to open your MedCalc Data File file due to incompatibility. If you've got the wrong version of MedCalc installed, you'll need to install the correct version. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: If you right-click on your MC1 file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right MedCalc version on your computer can cause problems opening MC1 files.
More Causes of Problems Opening MC1s
Although you might already have MedCalc or another MC1-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening MedCalc Data File files. Other MC1 opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Additional factors include:
- Invalid MC1 file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Corruption of the MC1 file description inside the Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the MC1 format
- Your MC1 file is corrupted (issues with your MedCalc Data File file itself)
- Your MC1 is infected with malware
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your MC1 file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the MedCalc Data File format
